FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY DO YOU NEED PERMISSIONS TO READ AND CHANGE ALL MY DATA?
These permissions are needed to load the BeCause extension on every page we find a match:
1) We use "read" permissions to check the page URL and retrieve a match
2) We use "change" permissions to load the BeCause extension.
Even with those permissions, we do not track you or create a profile of you with any of the data that BeCause can see.
IS BECAUSE AVAILABLE ON ALL BROWSERS?
Unfortunately BeCause is only available on the Google Chrome Store for now.
We are working to understand how we can support other browsers like Mozilla or Safari in the future.

THE EXTENSION IS ANNOYING ON SOME SITES. HOW CAN I GET RID OF IT?
We understand at times you don't want to see BeCause in action, especially if it ends up covering a portion of the site that is critical for you.
BeCause has a "snooze" option, which allows you to hide the extension for up to a week for a given brand:
1) Press the little clock icon on the right
2) Select the snoozing time between the available options
BeCause will not show up on any subsequent visit to a site where the selected brand would have been matched!
HOW DO YOU CALCULATE THE BRAND SCORES?
We look carefully at information available for each brand to determine how to score them.
We look at both what the brands say publicly about each cause, but also at what they actively do to make it better or worse.
Actions speak louder than words, so our scores rely more heavily on actions from those brands vs their messaging.
